Love Letter #3

Hi AUS & NZ Roller Derby Leagues… This is TGSS 2016 newsletter #3!

Oh boy, registrations have been going mental! Thank you to everyone for your patience as we sort out the tournament structure.

We officially have 47 teams participating in TGSS 2016, how freaking exciting! And that’s not even counting the participants for the challenge bouts yet… we are certainly not lying when we say we run the biggest roller derby tournament IN THE WHOLE WORLD!

How is this even going to work?
We are starting to get some emails about how the tournament is going to be sorted, and as previously mentioned, the TGSS 2016 divisions and pool allocations will be guided by the rankings on Flat Track Stats. We encouraged you to ensure that your league’s bout history was all up to date by the 31st March 2016, as we will be looking at the rankings after this time.

At this stage we can’t give out any information about who is playing who, or when… but you won’t have to wait much longer! It just takes a little time to get all these teams sorted is all!

Challenge accepted?
As always, we will be hosting a number of challenge bouts to really get your creative sides of derby out! Fancy costumes, crazy team names and the ultimate battle competitors are required for this part of the weekend.

Here is the link to register your interest in playing in the TGSS challenge bouts:

Please pass on to skaters in your league. Reminder – challenge bouts are ONLY open to female skaters, over 18 who are NOT participating in the divisional tournament during TGSS weekend.

In the interest of spreading the derby love as far and wide as possible – priority will be given to skaters from leagues NOT competing in division 1 or 2 of the tournament, however all leagues are welcome to register interest in challenge bouts.

Please note officials participating in the tournament are also not eligible for challenge bouts.

Official Bizness…
All registration emails have been sent out to officials now, so if you haven’t received an email please contact us asap on

The TGSS crew are super excited to reveal the tournament head ref and NSO for 2016. The Tournament Head ref is Adelaide Roller Derby’s very own Just a Maniac and the Tournament Head NSO will be KaneStr from Sydney Roller Derby league. Both of them come with a tonne of experience and knowledge to keep us all in line!

If you see them around over the weekend make sure to give them a big sweaty hug, because they have a lot of work to do!

Deck yo self in some TGSS merch
2016 will see presale TGSS merch again, the order form will be available soon! Lets just say some items will definitely become collectors items!

As for your league merch, this TGSS we will have both divisions playing on all days (notice that little titbit of info!), so we will make a merch spot available to each participating league for the entire weekend. Please note, it will be a tight squeeze so please let us know if perhaps you only want one for a day or two so that we can make arrangements accordingly, any queries send to
