Love Letter #6

Hi AUS & NZ Roller Derby Leagues. This is TGSS 2016 newsletter #6!

Hello Slammers!

Well, it’s getting close… like really super close and we are getting VERY EXCITED… Big Kev excited in fact!

This is going to be another newsletter full of requests, so make sure you read everything very clearly and give your league a kick up the bum if you are yet to submit the information to us!

First off, TEAM LISTS. You have all been asking when they are due… and well they are due in a week’s time… Monday the 23rd is when we need everyone’s teams lists for the tournament. That means your 20 skater names, plus your 5 support staff names… we need ALL THE NAMES!

If you aren’t bringing that many people, no worries… just send who is coming.

Please send your team lists to

Team uniform pictures… GUYS. We still need them! Bring on the name and shame portion of the newsletter…

These are the teams who still need to submit their uniform pictures to:

Devil State
Northern Beaches
Dragon City
Bay Rollers

Have you said yes but haven’t heard anything? Have you made payment but haven’t received your log in details? Never fear! The Challenge Bout committee is here.

Please email if you have expressed interest or made a payment and not heard anything, we want to get you onto the forum asap!

We actually have a few sneaky spots to fill, so if you have a mate who needs a little last minute DREAM PIMPING to come over to little old Adelaide, this is your chance…. Email the challenge bout gang to see if they can register!

If you haven’t made your payment yet, you have THREE DAYS! That aint a lot of days, so hop to it!

Each skater is required to pay $66 (inc gst) to the following account by the 20th of May.
BSB: 035006
A/C: 358417
Account Name: Adelaide Roller Derby

Please use the reference CB, league (i.e. ADRD) and skater name (i.e. Barrelhouse Bessy) with your payment.

We have two payments sent through and we can’t work out where you are from… so if anyone knows Felecia Blees or Pish Tosh can you tell them to get in touch with us!

You guys should all have the information sent through to your leagues, and now are on the secret facebook page talking some major strategy (or more importantly tshirts!)

If you are a potlucker and don’t know the deal, get in touch with us ASAP!

Well our presale 80s merch went gangbusters… those sales are now officially done and dusted, but you can still pre-purchase the non-80s merch from our online store.

Any pre-sold merch will be available to pick up from the merch stand at TGSS, if you have bought some and are not attending you can get someone else to pick it up for you – just give them your receipt and let us know:

We will also have a whole bunch of TGSS merch available for sale on the day…. Save those pennies!

So we need to start ordering tables and we need to know if you intend on bringing gear to sell! Each league will have half a table to sell their wares, so please let us know if this is something you need so we can have enough space for everyone!

Please email to secure your table space by Monday 23rdMay – after this date we cannot guarantee any space for late replies!

Weekend Passes are still available online… BUT they won’t be available at the doors so make sure you tell all your friends now to save them some money on the day!

Go here for all the info:

Cant make it to TGSS? So sad, too bad…
Just kidding! We are sad you can’t come along, so to make that sting a little less stingy… don’t forget that we will be broadcasting a number of the bouts over the TGSS weekend!
It’s a mammoth task, and no doubt there will be techy issues, so we just want to say thanks in advance to all the vollies who are helping to get the derby out there!

Our YouTube channel is here:

Now, for everyone making the trek over to Adelaide here is the information for you:

Registrations are a HUGE BEAST so we ask for your full attention in helping us to run this smoothly!

Friday night registrations is where it’s at!

Registrations will be open from 7-9pm at the Adelaide Showgrounds. Please send ONE representative from your team to come and collect the wrist bands and information for the weekend. This time is also open skate time. Come and try out the GOYDER tracks between this time to get your skating groove on.

Please note that the Wayville Track (Track 1) will not be available for testing at this time.

For those of you who can’t make this rego time, there will be an opportunity to pick up your packs from 7:30am Saturday morning. This is our least preferred rego time, so please do what you can to make It on the Friday night.

Rego is for all tournament teams, commentators, officials and challenge bout skaters.

We think most of you would have seen this by now, but just in case… here tis!
The commie crew are continuing their glorious tradition of ONESIE SUNDAY and you’re (finally) invited! Fight off the winter chills by wearing your favourite onesie to TGSS on Sunday, and join in the fun!

*Class of 2016*

(Our 80s themed after party for those of you hiding under a rock!)

We are sure you don’t need any more encouragement… but just reminding you about the party to end all parties, starting right after the final whistle and going late into the night.

The awkwardly long raffle draw will be happening again, and of course our DJ who has made every TGSS after party a raging success – TRACK TEAM DJ!

We will be crowning the Prom Royalty on the night – the most impressively dressed, so make sure you don’t hold back… as if you were ever going too!

Still need a place to stay? Our mates over at the YHA still have some room! Sounds like a few of you are already booked in… we feel bad for the other guests!

And finally, as we all get super pumped and excited for the weekend we gently remind everyone to follow Roller Derby’s golden rule: Don’t be a douche bag!

As you can imagine TGSS is a mammoth beast and it takes a lot of time and effort for Adelaide Roller Derby to put it on for the derby community. Over the weekend, if you are asked by us to move seats, to keep doorways clear, to pick up your rubbish or to be nice to each other, please listen and help us out. And most importantly, if you see someone who looks like they are working their butt off please stop to give them a high five, a hug, or a beer (at the after party of course!)

It is our absolute honour to be able to put on such a massive event, and we couldn’t do it without the support of the Australian and New Zealand derby communities, and so for that we thank each and every one of you.

If you have refs who have questions please send them here:
